6 Hevy alternatives in 2026: prices and trade-offs

Quick answer: choose Trainer Gym AI ($9.99 once) for generated plans without a subscription, Hevy or Strong for logging, Boostcamp for a program library, or Caliber for a path to human coaching. Fitbod adds adaptive session generation; JEFIT combines tracking and planning. These options solve different problems; they are not interchangeable cheaper copies.

For a generated workout plan

Trainer Gym AI asks about your goals, experience, schedule and equipment, then generates a plan. It supports iOS and Android, including Brazilian Portuguese, and uses a one-time unlock. See the existing plan screen to understand its layout before downloading. The screenshot demonstrates our interface, not superior training results.

Fitbod also generates workouts from training context and history. Hevy Pro includes Trainer for programming and working-weight adjustments. A language model versus another algorithm is an implementation difference, not proof that one program will be better for you.

For logging a program you already have

Hevy free allows 4 routines, 7 custom exercises and 3 months of graph history. Strong free allows 3 saved routines and unlimited workout records. If those limits fit your program, start there before paying. See Hevy pricing for the actual upgrade thresholds.

Before moving, save your records and check the destination's import support. Having an export does not mean every app can import it.

For structured programs or human coaching

Boostcamp offers free programs and tracking. Pro adds analytics and exclusive programs, including personalized options. Its annual $59.99 charge works out to about $5/month, but its month-to-month plan is $14.99. Do not compare the annual equivalent as though it were a cancellable monthly price.

Caliber distinguishes free tracking, paid Plus features and Premium human coaching. Its support page lists Plus at $12/month or $72/year; check the current offer. Human coaching is separately priced. We found no basis to label the free app an AI plan generator.

When staying with Hevy makes sense

If the app already supports your routine and its cost fits your budget, switching adds work without necessarily improving training. Compare the feature you need and the billing period, rather than choosing from a ranking alone.

FAQ

Which alternatives have a free version?

Hevy, Strong, Boostcamp and Caliber offer free options with different limits. Compare whether you need logging, a program library or additional guidance.

Which alternative offers a one-time purchase?

Trainer Gym AI offers a standard $9.99 one-time unlock in the US on iOS and Android. Hevy also publishes a $74.99 lifetime option. Check regional checkout prices before buying.

Does every app here generate AI workouts?

No. Logging, program libraries, automated planning and human coaching are different features. The AI label alone does not establish the quality or suitability of a plan.

Should I switch if Hevy free already meets my needs?

Not necessarily. If its routine limits and features fit your program, staying avoids moving your history and learning another interface.
